Annual River Buddies Guide Trip
Since that first float in 2011, Idaho River Buddies has expanded into an annual event and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Each year, the program serves more kids, thanks to the ongoing support from the guiding and fly fishing community, sponsors, and donors. Echo Fly Fishing has generously provided significant discounts on rods and reels, while Fishermen’s Eyewear has donated sunglasses. Additionally, organizations such as Patagonia River Guides, Henry’s Fork Anglers, RO Drift Boats, and numerous others have contributed their resources. Trouthunter continues to donate their facility and surplus equipment, while the renowned Frost Top provides meals at the end of each day. Most crucially, the guides—many of whom have been involved since the inception—persist in donating their time and dedication.
In 2025, Idaho River Buddies will mark its 15th anniversary. What started as a conversation over coffee has evolved into a transformative experience for hundreds of children. The approach is straightforward: a fly rod, a mentor, and a day on the river. The results, however, have the potential to profoundly alter lives.
